About Us

Developing Technology for Drug Screening

From years of experience

With many years of Bioscience experience, our team here at Drug Uptech are focused on  developing new technologies to help the drug discovery process, with specific interests in antibiotics and anticancer drugs and those aimed at the CNS.

We are developing a technology that enables quick, low cost high-throughput,
cell-based drug uptake and drug permeability assays.

Our Technology

Drug Uptake & Permeation Assay Kits

The drug discovery process is slow and expensive, in part due to drugs not
reaching their targets or being effluxed. This is particularly exacerbated in the
development of antibiotics and drugs targeting drug-resistant cancers or the
CNS.

Our team, led by Jose Ortega-Roldan, a Senior Lecturer at the University of Kent, are focused on developing technology that will make this discovery process easier and more accessible. The kits we are developing make drug assays faster and more cost-effective.

Drug Discovery

The drug discovery process is slow and expensive. Our assay kits will reduce cost and time by enabling high-throughput screening of drug uptake and permeation quickly.

Monitoring Drug Uptake

Our cell-based kits monitor drug uptake in any cell line (including bacteria) or permeation through cellular barriers, including the Blood brain barrier.

Drug Development

These kits also enable the study of kinetics, allowing the study of mechanisms of drug uptake, permeation and efflux, informing further drug development.
