Dr Jose Ortega-Roldan
Founder & CEO
Jose is a Senior Lecturer in Biochemistry at the University of Kent and the inventor of DrugUptech’s core technology. His research focuses on membrane proteins, compound transport, and drug-target interactions, with a strong interest in improving early-stage screening and assay design. He leads the overall strategic and scientific vision of the company.
Dr Lorena Varela
Chief Scientific Officer (CSO)
Lorena drives the R&D roadmap and customer discovery process. With a background in microbial biotechnology and applied biosciences, she plays a critical role in aligning the platform with real industry needs across antimicrobials, agriculture, and formulation testing.
Matthew Rice
Research Scientist
Matthew oversees the operational execution of R&D, including assay design, lab testing, and partnership support. He has hands-on experience with cellular model systems and leads the coordination of pilot studies with early collaborators.
